Robert Ainsley talks about Carmen

Portland Opera's very talented chorus master Robert Ainsley will give a free lecture about Bizet's Carmen during lunch hour on September 7th in the U. S. Bank Room at the Central Library (801 SW 10th Ave.). It's a free presentation that will include background information about the opera. You'll also be able to to hear some of the musical highlights from the Portland Opera Studio Artists.

Although you may think that you know everything about Carmen, Ainsley will probably give some new tidbits to ponder. These presentations are fun, and they are free!

Well worth mentioning: Jossie PĂ©rez, the Carmen for this production is (as well as being a wonderful singer) truly gorgeous. For once you can actually imagine the men of the opera killing each other for her. Should be a great production if the casting is any indication. Also, hear her sing the Habanera at the free Oregon Symphony Waterfront Concert at Tom McCall Waterfront Park (by the Hawthorne Bridge), Thursday, August 30 at 7:00 p.m.
