This evening, the critics will hear the Forth Worth Symphony under its conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya. The program features Sarah Chang in Brahms Violin Concerto and Mussorgsky/Ravel's Pricutres at an Exhibition.
Yestday we got a tour DSO's hall (Meyerson Hall), including a view of the adjustable acoutical panels and draps on the top-most floor. This is an IM Pei-designed hall (they completed it in 1989 at a cost of $89 million), but the acoustic were done by Russell Johnson and the sound at the concert I heard last night was warm and had a slight reverb.
We have a meeting this morning at the new Winspear Opera House and then lunch at the Dallas Museum of Art with Jaap van Zweden as our special guest.
How was the DSO concert? Unless my memory is faulty, Harth Bedoya was a candidate for music director in Oregon. My vague memory was that he was pretty good. My impression is that he has had a pretty good career, which has included conducting some major orchestras. I would be interested in your thoughts on tonight's concert.
